Is your shaft turning in a plain bearing or a sealed bearing?
In a sealed bearing, just clean the metal and give it a lick of JB weld. It works like Bondo but cures much harder. Shape it close when wet then file or sand back to 1". No heat distortion.
Good stuff. They claim it can be used to fill pits in engine cylinder bores.
