Subject: any advice for mixed households? (pc and mac)

Thinking about trying a macbook, but wonder how files will enterchange between them and pc's.

We have a pc "server" desktop in the office that we keep all of our data files on, Quickbooks, Excel, Word, Farmworks and some Apex as well as a ton of digital pics it is also connected to a router for our network. We've got several pc laptops that access the data from the shop and in the house. Thinking about trying a macbook but I don't know if it will play nice with the current bunch of pc's.

I know Mac can emulate a pc, but I've never talked to anyone who tried to run it that way a lot. What if we open and edit any of our files with the Mac, will we be able to go back and open them on a pc and vice versa?

Any advice is welcome. TIA Ray
