Earlville, NY | Actually, I fired him once for half a day; after a few months he was constantly asking for days off, showing up late etc. He begged for his job back; I gave it back after realizing the latest issue had been a misunderstanding on both our parts. Man, he was right on time and reliable for many months after that, but the past few months he's been slipping again.
In the past, my Dad had a few people that he fired, then re-hired on the spot. That seems to get through better to some people than explaining why it's important to show
up reliably etc. I think my father felt that occasionally you'll have someone that will only respond to a kick in the ass when logic and fairness don't work. | |
