Subject: Markets are giving some an education in history

sw ontario
No one should rejoice in falling markets but history tells us the past 10 yrs. or so was not a normal time in corn, beans, wheat.....No time in history has grain farming been so profitable for so long .....just remember that this too shall pass......trading combines or whole fleets of machinery every yr., expensive diesel pkps., along with paying record prices for land & rents was not sustainable.....Some pretty nice grain set ups, shops and homes built ......Nothing wrong with it if either farmer had cash or could cash flow it but contrary too what many say/think ag. debt has grown substantially.....on the + side land values will come more in line with returns ,most have a good line of machinery that will last quite a while and these Black Swan events are what happens from time to time---stay strong,it will get better
