south east SD | My uncle is buried there, moms brother. Our family farm, dads side is by Alst Germany. Ten of my family, dads side went to Germany and we stopped at the cemetery. Since we had a relative buried there we got a tour by the American caretaker. He explained the timeline of battles, care of the grounds and the people who took care of it. He said the family had one chance to have the soldier brought home, if yes they sent the remains home. No, they were buried there. After you say no, you can never remove the remains home.
My greatest respect for our people in the military.
