mercer county, il | I would say 10-15% worse than last year, now that the corn is tall we are forgetting about the spotty stands in places and the drowned out/thinned spots. the early planted corn looks good, but has stand issues, the later planted corn has a better stand, and is starting to look better.
The beans are finally starting to grow, and looking better daily.
The alfalfa has sucked so far(less than 1000lb/ac for 2nd cut), but now we have some rain, so hoping for the best.
the dry spell we had was really hard on the rocky/weathered steep sidehills, most of the corn is 9 ft tall or so, but you get to one of those spots it is waist high maybe. | |
