Subject: RE: Tagging a calf

West Central Nebraska - Sandhills
I tag out of pickup opening door halfway and pulling calf butt towards the hinges of inside of door and that way Mom can still smell calves face and doesn't usually want to come into truck, but I'd have to will pull the whole calf inside cab with me and close door. Poverty, I understand the idea of not tagging, but when you find a calf that's been orphaned by its Mom out in a pasture full of pairs, or a calf that you think may be starting to scour or get sick and you want to go back later in the day, how do you identify it? We also give shots at birth so we tag at same time.
