JD must have had some dedicated employees to keep things quiet until they officially introduced the New Generation tractors.
4010 production began May 2, 1960.

Several years ago I got a copy of the 1960 JD Day film (on VCR tape) that was shown at the dealers at their own JD Day programs when the New Generation series was introduced.
I've always wondered what some guys thought and said to their dealers if they had just bought a new 2-cylinder a few months prior to finding out about the New Generation series.
