NW Central Ohio
I have a feeling narrower row beans becomes an issue of "when you can plant them". Most studies have shown yields to generally be equal with earlier planting of soys. It's when you get into later planting and sometimes on tougher soils that the narrower beans will show a yield advantage. Personally I'd love to plant soybeans into a double 10" row between a couple 22" corn rows...so I could stay out of the root balls...and have the narrow row benefit when farming by myself. Most of us would always rather plant corn first and soys second..and sometimes that stretches our planting window out enough that the closer rows would be to our benefit.
