Some folks plant the same variety in 30 as they drilled last year and wonder why they don't canopy until later. The problem is most newer beans have been bred for narrower rows and are short and upright. A tall bushier bean on 30 will combine better as well as canopy close to 15". There are bushier beans available that like the closer seed spacing of 30 and branch to the side.
