That explains why national corn sales volumes behave as shown in the FRED data, corn belt farmers dominate national corn sales.

Monthly corn sales volume in some fringe area states appears to peak in harvest months (when cash corn prices bottom) and bottom in June (when cash corn prices peak). Attached chart shows FRED data for monthly corn sales volumes in PA . Much of PA's corn is sold at harvest by dairy farmers as surplus above their feed needs.
