What row space you plant your soybeans will be entirely up to you. A farmer can probably justify any row space he choses. I have planted 7.5 ,15,30,38. I prefer 15 inch. You can have excellent bean yields in 30's but I think overall they don't shine in dry years , light soils or no-till situations. Thirty inch rows shine in heavy soils and wet years.

If you are after the highest yields I feel you need something narrower than 30. Sometimes the highest yields aren't the most profitable but at the end of the day I personally think yield is everything.
