I'm not going to give an opinion at all on what you should do, because you may have reasons that are exclusive to you as to what is best . You do already have a 15" planter though, and that would be the lowest cost way to plant for you. Won't add to machinery expense. If you want to have one planter that is something to consider. I don't personally like dragging a15" planter over the ground to plant 30" corn though. I like 2 units because because we no till beans with one and plant corn with the other. Our Hiniker seeder is a cheap planter of course and reduces the wear on each. We tend to keep machinery for close to a generation though .So we don't change because it is the latest fad. You could just plant 15" corn .....that is kind of the latest fad (maybe 20") and you would be good to go ! Lol
It's funny I have been around long enough to see corn go from 36 to40" rows down to 30" and now talk of 15 to20" or even twins. Beans the same ,wide row beans to drilled ("they" told us we needed to for yield increase) then 15", now 30" is just as good ! I think 30" corn will stand the test of time and if 30" beans work for you that's fine.
