Montana | I have been cropping about 2800 acres and own the machinery to raise and harvest the crops. I was only allowed to have my old 800 acre Base. I am in better shape than many young guys who bought land without a base but they are farming it and get none of the payments.
Farm payments should only be paid to active Farmers raising a crop that is covered. If a person is not raising a crop and has not raised that crop in the last five years, that person should not get farm program payments for that crop. Some Congress persons are in Washington DC and do not farm, but they own a base that is perhaps seeded to CRP or left sitting idle. Many do not own Farm machinery so they do not pay personal Property tax Like I do , but they will get payments. That is dirty and evil in my opinion
It was criminal that we were not allowed to increase our Base or establish a base if we had a four or more year history of cropping.
