Pilot Grove, Missouri | I will echoe most of the other posters. Cereal rye, drilled after harvest. Cereal rye even drilled right before freeze up has worked well here. May not make it out of the ground until spring. As far as killing it, that is easy. My favorite is to spray a qt. rate of roundup with your choice of residual herbicide, right after the planter or drill. This year I used 3.2 oz. of Fierce and did not have to spray post emerge.
