From past experiences I would definitely not shorten up the growing season on the seed. If you normally plant a mid group 3 then I'd still plant a mid group 3. You are giving up a lot of potential pod set if you shorten up the season on the seed. From the standpoint of population, you can't get them to thick, it is merely a matter of what your checkbook can stand. Can you find anyone in the area that is sitting on some treated seed they are afraid of not getting sold? They might cut you deal just to get them out of their inventory. Been there and done that!
