In fact sometimes being at the front of the pack on new models ends up being a major headache. I'm thinking specifically about diesel pickups the past 8 years or so. "Glad it was under warranty....."
edit: and I can still own (do own) two reliable paid for used pickups much, much cheaper than one new one. So we always have backup. Though it has been very rarely needed so far. I can't think of the last time one was in the shop for anything except exhaust work a while back.
