That 9 times out of ten is EXACTLY what ISU extension said on WOI AM about May or June 1971 right after my spring planting was failing. Redisked the patch and the fall planting is still growing well.

Thanks for the 16 year-old pamphlet and the 41 year-old advice. I think we seeded 4 pallets this spring and 1.5 pallets this fall. (I can't remember how much is on a pallet--my help would know--over 2000 lbs....)I have personally walked all that was done this spring and ONE stand with ZERO watering is thin, all the rest are PERFECT.

Experience is a wonderful teacher. Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach.

Either time will work just great with just a bit of common sense. Oh, I would NEVER seed a lawn w/o rolling it. Rolling is the step that makes establishment almost a certainty when done by EXPERIENCED crews.

Fall is more forgiving--that's probably why discing worked.
