| A buddy came by one day in the winter of 1983 and said we need to go look at computers. To make a long story short, I only saw two machines all day that didn't require knowledge of a programming language and had this thing they called a mouse. One was a VERY new thing called a Macintosh with a 9" screen; LOVED IT / couldn't afford it. The other was an Apple IIe. I bought it. It had 128KB, green monochrome display, a mouse, two 5.25" floppy drives and an Apple Dot Matrix printer. Also got Farm Ledger Pro and Visi Calc software. All in all, I cut a check for $ 5,200.
My friend thought I'd made a huge mistake buying an off-brand (non-PC) computer. We didn't speak about the computer for quite some time. He never asked nor cared how I was getting along with it. I think he finally bought his first PC around 1990. By then I was running Macs that were light-years ahead of where I'd started. We still don't talk about computers or the difference in our machines 28 years later ! ! ! ! ? ? ?
