Le Sueur VIA St.Thomas | Hi SimpleMan,
I have a D-Link 323 NAS (Network attached Storage device)- It is a very basic setup that has already save me more than once. It is a little box with two hard drives that are shared on the network. Here is what I do.
I have my NAS drives set up as mirrored drives. If one were to fail, I could retrieve the info off the good drive. This is my MAIN storage area- all my files are saved there. All Local computers can access the info as well. From there, I use the 'Backup and Restore wizard' that comes w/windows. Every night Those files get backed up to the hard drive in my computer, so the files are in 3 different HDD's. I also do a weekly full backup of my computer to the NAS device.
This works good for me, although all drives are in the same office, so this may not work in a fire. Online backup is probably easier and truthfully, safer all around as well- I'm just too cheap to pay fees for something like that.
good luck -jim
