Southern Illinois | I am going to be 100% Liberty beans this year and I know there is going to be a lot of Extend beans planted with chemical applications going on very close. I am not a doom and gloom type guy but let's be honest this new system being rolled out at the scale it is along with all of the potential failure modes is almost undoubtedly going to produce at least a few isolated incidents. My question is, does anyone know of an insurance you can buy for off target chemical application where your crops are damaged and the responsible party cannot be conclusively identified? I have asked two local insurers with no luck. Not saying I would buy it but it would be nice to know if such a product does exist. My fear is that if multiple applications are made in a couple day span and one of them drifts or volatilizes how can you prove it beyond a reasonable doubt?
Feel free to tell me I'm crazy and shouldn't be worried. But if you do, let me know how you are dealing with this new risk. | |
