Subject: Hydrant Install Question?

NE Iowa
Had the ground around a 15 year old hydrant get squishy this afternoon. Not sure if I was cheap, ambitious, or stupid but I dug it out by hand. Leaking by the drain valve. Just going to put in an all new hydrant. I always see drain tile stuck over the water line and bottom about 3' of the hydrant. Is the drain tile a good idea and if it is do you use solid or perforated drain tile? I cut the old off and through it in the burn barrel before I looked to see if it was perf or solid. Thanks.
