Southern Mn | It sure seems like "most" farmers are well aware of the numbers we will be dealing with at least this year and maybe more. Without a significant weather event, it sure seems like its going to be hard to pencil high rent. Will we learn from this? will marginal land go back into small grain alfalfa or pasture? will rotations go back to what they were years ago? or will corn still be planted fencerow to fencerow?
Im not young, have been in the game many years, dont run new machinery, so I kind of have my ideas about what I would like to see.
Yes I know the line, if corn pencils out and the market is calling for it, then I'll reward the market.
Why?
Just because "the man" says we need the american farmer to grow more corn, why should we?
Just imagine if our carryouts actually went away?
Look what low carryouts have done for the markets in the past?
Think what drastically low carryouts would do?
Get the Government the hell out of any farming income.
Let the real Market determine the price, not the paper traders
As farmers we could rule the world | |
