Subject: Opinions on how to bale corn stalks?

North Central IN
Have always paid neighbor to rake and bale. Around $25 IIRC. Hard to get him here tho.

Starting corn tomorrow. Thinking I'm going to try to do my own this year. So here's my equipment...

Deere 9500 combine, 8 row regular rolls, chopper on combine.
Deere HX-20 batwing
CIH rubber roll haybine
Miller rotary rake. Also have 3 point v-rake.
Deere round baler. Has net and twine.

Gathered from posts on here to move chopper to windrow position, and just drop and bale.
Or I could mow or crimp it, rake it and bale.

Does it need to 'dry' after combine? BT corn.

Think I should probably net wrap, but will this make a mess when I move them? Will they freeze to ground? Is 2 wraps of net enough?

Only looking to do 100-150 bales for bedding for cattle operation. No tub grinder. Would come from owned ground, and manure to be spread back on owned ground. Bales will be stored outside.

What would you do? TIA!
