McLeod County, MN | If you ask me we still need the carrot to plant corn, especially in light of basis issues. Under $5 is not gonna do it, especially for guys in parts of North and South Dakota and MN. I think 5.25 corn will get more acres than USDA estimated on the planting intentions. At $5 we should come in close to USDA, and if it stays under $5 guys will plant beans.
Yesterday I checked and beans were 2.5 to 1 against corn for new crop.
At market close today beans fell to 2.45 to 1 against new crop corn.
Forecast not looking good for my part of the country to get going early, which means drying corn, and who knows what that will bring with propane issues. I am already making plans just in case I want to switch to more beans, even though I dont like raising them.
Not gonna decide until the last minute. | |
