Subject: Injecting water softener into garden hose while filling?

Mid-Missouri
Water from deep well was tested at 650 ppm. Sometimes use a softener product called Hydromend. Rep tested the water and adding one drop to water drastically lowered hardness. He encouraged the softener be added while filling water trailer instead of while filling sprayer, like I always have done with AMS, softeners, etc... Water trailer at most holds 6400 gallon, but usually don't ever fill near that much at a time.

Is there a somewhat accurate way to inject this softener into garden hose while filling? We now have a tote of softener. It would take at most a pint per 100 gallon of water. I could add the softener into the top of each 4 water tanks but in an enclosed trailer it would be much more difficult to access and be accurate and sometimes we are running the water hose while filling sprayer. Furthermore, we dont have a way of agitation in these four water tanks, but I am not sure just how much stirring is needed to get a pint per 100 mixed. We do have an electric direct inject unit for our irrigation but it seems a bit elaborate and costly to use for this situation IMO.

Thanks

Before I went whole hog, it’d be doing my own before and after water conditioning tests...

I get it, mr skeptical.

I will say, my dad was standing right there when the water instrument was used, and when the drop of treatment was added.

To which the rep for the product was doing the test?

Be interesting to hear how it works out. I’m kind skeptical of things that only take a small bit, and with secret ingredients.

The secret, proprietary ingredients thing is always a red flag.

The data sheet tells nothing
https://atlantic-pacificag.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/HydroMend-...

How in the world can you have a SDS that tells nothing about the product or its hazards?

Red flags all over if you ask me, I’ve never seen a more worthless data sheet.  The only thing it says for certain is that a water spray may not be enough to put out a fire of this product, and it burns with a clear to yellow flame.

talk about ambiguous.....

A Venturi siphon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4K3G24gMzU (I couldn’t explain it). I have seen it used on a irrigation system. Your tanks have measuring marks? You know basic GPM?
A pint per 100 gallons? A gallon jug does @800 gallons. I don’t know how accurate softener is thru this. But once you know what setting pulls a gallon per 800. I guess you COULD drop it in tote.
I do think this would lower GPM in filling. Maybe a larger unit could be found. I do wonder if it could be made?

Dosatron?

I agree with the Dosatron. It will be the most accurate way of metering the product into the running water stream.

just a tish NE of central ND
Measure out specific amount per water tank and add it and circulate the water to mix just like in a sprayer.. Maybe use a venturei at the mixing pump to add the product. Sweet and simple.

What about an Array machine? They rent those out for $1/year. I'm sure there is some minimum amount of Array purchased to qualify but I don't think it's a huge amount. Not sure what the machine's rated gpm range is though.

650 ppm of what? Iron , calcium, what? When it says proprietary ingredients, it is usually some simple basic ingredient marked up 1000%.
