| We have a 930D Grasshopper mowe with water cooled 3 cylinder Kubota diesel with approx 670 hrs. 2 weeks ago it overheated twice., to the point of blowing out antifreeze. First time it did it I noticed the spring non the radiator cap wouldn't move so bought & installed new cap, purchased thru a Grasshopper dealer. Cleaned radiator, added antifreeze & installed new cap. Mower ran for about 5 minutes and overheated again. I talked to a friend who is a tech for a Kubota dealer. He said to check the radiator neck where cap fits against. Said with with plastic tank he has seen the neck deform from the heat. Sure enough inside the neck was deformed & chunks were messing. I was told it wasn't possible to repair so ordered & installed a new radiator, which came with a new cap. I also replaced the thermostats, plus found the temperature Guage wasn't working so replaced it as well.
Yesterday, wife mowed our yard, almost 3 acres & I mowed the road ditch across from our house which hadn't been mowed for over 2 weeks so grass was heavy. Had no issues overheating, temp Guage ran at the bottom of the green. Son used the mower to mow a small bin site & his yard, less than q/2 ac combined. Mower started to overheated before he finished his yard, which BTW has lots of trees and light ground so grass isn't nearly as heavy as ours. Before starting to mow he cleaned the radiator screen. Fan belt is tight & water pump spins easily.
TIA

Any ideas what the problem may be ? | |
