Saline County, Mo | I thought I was doing dad a favor one time and whipped in the blue beacon for the acid wash. I wore out some joints the following day Mr. Mayagi style

Central ND | I would almost committ murder if someone used acid on my trailers too lol. There is some citrus washes that I think work ok, iron out has been suggested on here before too I believe

ecmn | You have to watch out for which acid you use. There is some citrus based stuff that works pretty good. I have a pail I use on my polished aluminum that works good. I'll try get the name of it tomorrow.

Central ND | Acid will get it clean no doubt but it's so hard on the finish, basically turns it white on bare aluminum

So. IL | Acid opens up the pores and then the aluminum will get even dirtier next time. Not a acid fan.

EC IL | This summer we used Aluminum brightner, which came from a car wash supplier. It is the acid based stuff that everyone above dislikes. We only mixed it something like 1/2 qt. to a gallon or 1 1/2 gallons of water and applied it with a pump up sprayer from the bottom up. We experimented with the stuff on the inside of the 20 year old 10 wheeler bed. The end result was that it evened up the appearance of the bed sides and I think it helped the overall appearance. Definitely experiment with the ratio on a part not seen before you use it as the wrong rate will turn aluminum white. We have a newer bed that still looks good, I would not use it on it.

East Central Indiana | We also had good luck with fleet bright acid on and old (1976) east that had no gloss left. It turned a little bit white but after a few regular hand washings looked pretty nice, and it is slicker than before. I would never use acid on a trailer that still has some gloss left. Probably a good idea to use acid on a cool foggy morning.
