Subject: Evening crop tour

nw/nc iowa on the banks of West Buttrick Creek..
Late yesterday afternoon drove from Webster Co. Iowa to Grand Junction looking at crop damage, damage started north of GJ but really got bad at Rippey, it continued bad at Perry and onto Granger, Slater seemed to be the town that was hit worst. MANY corn fields that you could just walk over. It appears that Sygenta lost a lot of research plots at Slater. A lot of pole sheds damaged, many roofs to the north were partially peeled off. Damage tapered off quickly as we drove north to Ames which had only minor damage. Then onto Luther, what a mess, and the bin builders said they can't get parts for this seasons normal bin building projects.
There were a lot of cemetary's that had many old pine trees blown over at the roots. Madrid to Slater was probably the area with the most buildings damaged.
Was hard to find gas and something to eat. Hickory Park was closed that was the final blow. No electricity.
