Scraper companies joining forces

Manitoba-based earthmoving equipment manufacturer K-Tec Earthmovers Inc. has announced it is merging with another scraper-maker based in Wisconsin.
K-Tec is joining forces with Ashland Industries, which also makes scrapers for the agriculture, construction, and mining markets.
The company will be headquartered in Rosenort, Man., with manufacturing and service operations in both Rosenort and Ashland, Wisconsin.
“In the weeks leading up to the announcement, the K-Tec and Ashland teams met several times and it was apparent that all of us could not be happier with the ‘fit’ of the two companies. We share a similar vision for the earthmoving industry and are very proud to unite our families of earthmovers under one umbrella. I want to reassure our dealers and customers that we will not be making any changes to the 2020 sales programs and product offerings. We look forward to meeting with our dealership network to gain their feedback on their needs for the future, and how we can help them each succeed,” says K-Tec president Mike Palitsky, who will remain president after the merger.
Founded in a farm shop in the Rosenort-area in 2000, K-Tec builds large scrapers, ranging in size from 28 to 63 cubic yards. Ashland mainly builds smaller scrapers, ranging from 2.5 cubic yards for skidsteer loaders to 30 cubic yards for pulling behind 4-wheel-drive tractors.
Financial terms of the deal, which was announced at ConExpo in Las Vegas, were not disclosed. K-Tec has been majority-owned by an affiliate of Owner Resource Group LLC, an Austin, Texas-based private investment firm, since 2018.
