You are absolutely correct, scale is everything.

We have a 30-year data history. Roughly speaking, the +/- 0.5 standard deviation range (each pixel has its own stats for each scene/date) gives the "no change" range, 0.5-1 standard deviations the first change category, 1-2 the second, and >2 the third.

With moisture not an issue up to now, the "less green" is certainly a reflection of delayed growth, but no doubt this year is extreme in this regard. Closing in on mid-season, we'll have to see what can catch up.

Agree, vs. last year the most useless for gauging this year, but does remind just how good things were going last year at this time!
