Subject: Replacing FNR cable on CIH 8950

South Georgia
I have a broken FNR cable on my 8950. I have the bottom end loose, and got into the console to remove the upper end of the cable, but I can't figure out how the upper end of the cable comes loose from the stud it's attached to. Anybody got any ideas? The new cable threads into the ball and socket deal that attaches to the shifter mechanism, but I don't have room enough to either screw the cable out as it is now, nor do I have horizontal clearance to try to unscrew the ball and socket deal from the shifter mechanism.

I'm sure I'm just overlooking something straightforward, but I just haven't figured it out yet.

I appreciate any help,
Adrian
