| When I bought this planter on auction I didn’t think it would be all that undesireable to have a drawbar hitch instead of a 2-point hitch on it. The more I think about it though, the more I regret not waiting for one that is 2-point.
If I use the 2-point I will need to support the drawbar with a chain because my drawbar really isn’t designed for that much weight (in my opinion). The drawbar also requires another hydraulic remote and I don’t have any too many available. Finally, I often lift the 3-point when I’m going over terraces to try and keep the row units more parallel to the surface they are on and I’m wondering if the drawbar hitch is really designed to be operated in any other position than level in the field.
It’s a bit late to sell it and buy another planter. Already done too much work to this one. As I’m looking at it, I think I could probably build a 2-point for it. I think I can just remove the hydraulic cylinder and the two pins that hold the drawbar parralel linkage to the planter. Then I could build a 2-point mount that attaches where the parallel drawbar assembly attached. This would have to be angled forward and downwards a little bit so that the 2-point ended up being at the right height relative to the frame of the planter. Finally I would attach a 2-point (like what a guy can find on a Titan planter frame) to the 2-point mount that I built.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this plan? The last picture I upload below will be pictures of the Titan 2-point that I would either purchase or try to replicate and then mount to my custom built 2-point mount.
