Subject: Seeding Pasture

Clay and sand central Illinois. I wasn't able to have the ground soil tested by the co op and they said they would get to it in the spring. Problem is part of it was logged and tore the grass up and need something on it pretty much before they're able to probe into it correctly. Tried red clover in the past never came up with the 4 wheeler and spreader. This ground hasn't been worked in 40 years that's the last time it was logged. I did a small patch with a subsoiler to stop so much run off so it would go in the ground last year. The ground wasn't mine to test last year or else it would have been soil tested. The subsoiler did seem to help by catching the precip. Would it be wise to do more of the ground like this or just go around and tear up areas and drill it in? There has been tractors hauling bales across it for several years to impact the soil some. Just don't how to approach really until those samples are made.
