Central Texas | Was trying to move my newly aquired 1264 Rogator and it decided to dump all the hyd oil. The bolts that hold the clamps on a flush face fitting broke. Anyhow, I have yet to get a operators manual for it and I don't know what type of oil I should use. Cat dealer said that I need to use theirs, claims it's "special" but wouldn't say why and it's $12 gal. Anyone out there have a 1264 (maybe even a 1274) if so what kind of hydraulic oil are you using? |

Hoffman, IL | I believe the local FS (growmark) uses a hydraulic 100 which if I remember right is like a 50 weight hyd oil. |

S W KS | ISO 100 Nothing but that i used to work on them and i have seen the affects of any other kind of oil. Also you MUST MUST bleed the air out of the hydro before starting or you will burn up the charge pump. I learned that the hard way 3 times thank god agco was the paying for the hydros. Agco failed to inform us about the bleeding process and we were just firing them up dry and the charge pump only last about 2 minutes then we had to pull and replace the new ones we just put in. To bleed the pull the engine ecm fuse and turn the engine over untill you see charge pressure on the right hand eip. Then replace the fuse and fire it up. Make sure you have charge pressure right away. You can also install a manual pressure gauge on the charge block on the front crossmember in the hydro. |

| I second bhageman... Make sure you use an ISO 100 and make sure that you use a good quality. CAT, MOBIL etc... You do not want to chance wheel motors and hydros with the wrong or poor quality oil. |

Casey Illinois | Just purchased a used 854 and the salesman told us they use to use hydrulic oil, and then switched to motor oil and now they are again using hydrulic oil in the machines, did not make a difference which brand but make sure it was iso approved. |

Central Texas | Oh man, thanks bhageman, very valuable info you've given me. It's people like you that make this site better than any help you can recieve from a dealership. |

S W KS | i always tell non believer to stick one hand in a bucket of 30 w oil and then one in a bucket of iso 100 and tell me which one is harder to clean off that is the one i want in my machine and the iso 100 is great at dissapatinng heat. thats my 2 cents worth. |

Central Texas | bhageman, I've been trying to get me some oil for the 1264 and my oil dealer has been tracting down the correct oil. I told him it is ISO 100 but he said that there are three different types and I don't know any further details because I still don't have me operators manual. Then he said he was talking to cat trying to get more details and then said that it is 10w oil. I'm backed to being confused again......do you have any more details about that oi? |

NE Illinois | From what I have been told by Ag Chem and the dealer, and mechanic, use only ISO 100, which they went on to say was ABOUT like straight 30. We get ours from our local FS. The other thing I was told on the newer machines,(we had an 854, now we have a 1264) is that they want you to get your filters and new oil ready, pull the plug, while it is draining, change your filters, then as soon as it is done draining, put the plug in and then start dumping in your new oil. This comes straight from the service school I was at on Wednesday. The reason he said this is to avoid having that charge pump go dry. He did further say that as a second precaution, you can pull that fuse and crank it over and watch for the charge pressure to come up. He said since they have been following the procedure of drain and fill, they have not needed to do the crank and charge. As a side note, I hope I like the 1264 as much as I liked my 854. |
