| This is a field report on MY farm and my surrounding area. We have been dry since last year and very dry throughout the winter and summer. The crop has just been hanging on but this week is really starting to take a toll on the corn crop. If we could get rain by the weekend we might still make a 200 average which is about 25bu under my aph. If we had to wait until late next week I’m think 160ish is a very real possibility. I have been feeding hay for two months which we try to count on the cattle to help in tough years but it looks like feed costs will eat our margin there also. With no rain the the two week forecast it’s really starting to effect to mood around the coffee shops. We have only had 6-7 inches of rain since planting so math shows that might be enough water for half a corn crop at best. | |
