NC Iowa | These pics were all taken near I-35 corridor within 15 miles of the MN border. We were one of the areas hit hardest early on, but have missed most of the big rains since. We still got plenty of rain each time, but missed the later 3-5"+ ones. We have had around 20" for the year, and 10"ish in the last 31 days.
There are plenty of very nice looking fields, if they were managed for a little N loss or had a planned sidedress pass they look pretty good. Tiled fields are pretty easy to pick out, but even some fields that are pattern tiled on 40-60' centers had plenty of drowned outs when we got the 5-7" in a day. Most of the outlets just can't keep up, and the ground with some hills forces it all the the lowest areas and they were gone. With the constant rain many of the potholes that drowned out never got replanted, or just did within the last couple weeks. Corn is just starting to tassle, we have made up so many GDU's its unbelievable, corn planted 4-24 last year is about the same maturity as corn planted 5-18 this year.
Beans are pretty far behind, they haven't been growing the best when its either 70*, rain and cloudy for a week, or 95* the next week. Narrow row beans are just closing the row, 30" beans have a ways to go.
