Subject: Cover crop experts got a question about interseeding

S IL
Southern Illinois. If I’m going to be spreading a dry nitrogen source on corn that’s waist high in June, would it be a good or bad idea to have cover crop seed mixed in?

Most important is do not want to ding the corn yield.

Could be too early and herbicide residue can kill it.

Could be shaded out.

Germination could be harmed mixed with fertilizer

Seems very likely I would waste money on seed, but if it can work it would be easy way to use covers that require earlier seeding than cereal rye.
