I still think you need to do an STO version that LKM is doing. Get an order buyer in Kentucky. Go pick up a gooseneck load every week, better yet have somebody haul thrm up. Get them started right and sell a semiload every 120 days or so. You run the numbers but something like that.
Those small numbers and the way you hand feed calves you probably wouldn't have the health problems these guys see. And would do a lot to improve cash flow and prevent steep losses in a falling market. When prices rise you can feed longer.
