Subject: What to use this year for CC ?

Holland, Indiana (SW IN)
for CC we have been seeding about 30-40 LBS bin run wheat.-- has worked pretty good over the last 10 years--- before that we experimented with anything recommended by NRCS, what was experimented with in our area by other farmers, or what we learned at No Till conferences

before wheat-- We tried --Peas, clovers, radishes, turnips, annual rye grass, cereal rye, in varying mixes-- we were not totally unhappy with any of the more exotic mixers--but for the $ spent per acre did not think any were that much better than $3 or$4 worth of wheat

Our main objective for using CC is erosion control -adding some extra organic material I see as an added benefit-have rolling ground and with corn, soybean rotation we need CC especially after Soybeans-- No tilling Corn into Soybean residue-- soil will tend to erode after rain events of 4"+ in a short time, that happen in our area . (had 3--- 4"+ rains this spring)
This year the wheat CC had problems Vole (short tailed mice) damage, and slugs caused us to replant a very high % of our soybeans and had difficulty getting a good even stand of corn.

My questions #1 is any CC product less attractive to Voles-- has been said Voles don't like it when radishes die and will migrate to another area?
#2 any product Less conductive to slugs
#3 any other suggestions

FWIW we have a air seeder box mounted on a VT tool --we can seed most any product--we are tossing around seeding Annual Rye Grass mixed with some radishes? ARG will usually not winter kill in our area --but is hard to kill (has been our experience)
Located in SW Indiana-- usually have time to establish CC before cold weather hits

Thanks in advance-- Dan

To add we do very little tillage-- try to only use VT tools --helps keep erosion down
