King City, Mo | Worked this morning cleaning up the Row of hybrid watermelons. Then put some straw down.
We planted 1# of OP watermelon seed into a wheat cover and have jack squat for a stand. I'm really disappointed in that as we were hoping to be over ran with watermelons.....
If it doesn't get too hot today we'll work on the white pumpkins and pull weeds up close to the plants. My cousin is going to come over with his kutoba and tiller between the rows when it dries up.
I'm disappointed in the orange pumpkins in no tilled into the wheat and then sprayed the wheat. It's not the spray as I sprayed the bare soil patches with the same fill.... there are more coming up after a rain but we have weeds and the wheat residue to deal with.....they plants there are not near the size of the white pumpkin plants either.
We'll have plenty of pumpkins but just aggravates me.
The watermelon was the bigger disappointment but we have more plants this year.
I'm disappointed in the pre of Paraquat, reflex and dual but with no rain following application for a few weeks what can you expect.....
