Running furrow cruisers on a new to me 1770nt in conventional tilled ground. They are doing like they say they will by busting up the seed trench sidewall but the seed seems to lay in loose dirt that isn't packed at all, maybe that's normally a good thing. Checking some corn planted a week ago, most is up or just below the surface but when I dig in a skip what I find is seed that either sprouted and died or did nothing and rotted. Maybe it's a seed issues too bit wondering if anyone runs the furrow cruisers and thinks they should pack more. I know of a guy running them with a yetter firming wheel like a case ih behind them and he seems to really like that setup. Thanks

Everyone hates keetons on here but I run them with 2 furrow cruisers and have had my best stands ever with this setup. Everytime I dig a seed up its placed nice and tight in the bottom of the trench and the cruisers always seem to break up my sidewall compaction. Except when its too wet then the cruisers pack with mud and become mud balls. I've never had to ajust my closing wheel spring past the 2nd notch to get the trench closed. I'm as much no till as I can maybe your soil is to worked to loose.

we really get along good with them. We also run a drag chain but don't think they do much

What notch of down pressure are you running with them? In most conventional ground, we like to see the 2nd notch of down pressure to get a good firming action.

I started in the first notch then went to the second after a while. That seemed to work better.
