It's a freightliner if that helps |

Southern Illinois | Whenever I asked a paint shop they told me a basic job starts and 5 grand and could go up quick. I painted mine myself with a base coat clearcoat and turned out decent for not a lot of money. |

Elsmore, Kansas | I have a 95 KW w sleeper and have been told if I do a single color about 6k for a basic plain paint job. The truck is 2 tone now and when repainted will be 2 tone again. For what I want, blue truck w it dark blue fender and a little pin stripping I have been quoted 10 to 15k and that also includes the frame painted the same color as the fenders. I plan on getting the job done at some point but rite now it's not a priority. I'd like to paint it myself but I just know so little about painting I'm afraid to try it. |

| Unfortunately the answer is more than what the truck is worth, had a 2012 Pete 386 day cab painted red (costs more than any other color) but anyways it was 4500, obviously this is a newer truck with low miles, I also added the day cab extension at the same time, no way I would ever do it to an older truck, will never get your money back, actually probably won't on this one either. |

Elsmore, Kansas | So if u had a really nice well maintained older 379, 359, W900L, W900A that needed painted u wouldn't do it because of ROI??? Nice well maintained trucks r bringing a premium rite now, will that change if the elog rule goes away???? Maybe, probably.... But if ur anything like me and u just like ur equipment to look nice along with being well cared for then painting an older truck isn't a bad idea IMHO. My trucks have our names on them and they r a representation of our farm and when people see them I want to be represented well. JM2C. |

west central Ohio | Thanks. That probley explains why the neighbor never painted it. Could cost more the the truck is worth. |

Callao Missouri | If you paint the truck the next thing that will happen is you will blow the motor, and your married to the pos! |

South East Nebraska | Maybe its not a pos. Maybe its a very mechanically sound rig that just looks like crap. We do some truck painting and rebuilding. On a 379 EXHD I figure about 1500-1700 in material for body work and to paint just the cab and hood with good ppg base coat and clear coat. You can get cheap paint and probably knock 300-400 off. Sand blast and paint frame around 1000 for cab back and if ahead of firewall another 250-300. I would guess you can get on ok job done for around 5-6 grand. Something to keep in mind freightliners are mostly fiberglass and usually have a lot of nice hidden suprises under that bad paint once you start sanding. A guy can paint over this stuff and save a lot of $ and time but you are then building on a crap foundation and your truck will look like crap shortly again. So keep that in mind. There are budget jobs and then there are jobs done correctly. Just like anything else you get what you pay for. |

WC IL | The amount of preparation it needs can greatly affect the cost. |

Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot | A good paint job can run $7-10k.
Then there are some amigo's who will actually do a pretty decent job for $1200. But, a good comprise is to do it yourself. On that vintage of a truck most of the time is in the prep. Do all that and then hire someone to come spray the paint on. |
