Pocahontas IL | Walking some cereal rye cover crop fields tonight looking at rooting depth and mass. Decided to dig up a yellow rocket (wild mustard) plant. I could not believe the shear mass of the root ball. It must have been 2ft in diameter, it was only 4-5" deep (roots went deeper that is just where it broke off when I pulled it from the top). Maybe this winter annual isn't so bad as it is easy to kill and the hollow stem disappears fast
