Subject: Extendimax and boom height

Sw Ontario
Went to a sprayer clinic the other day and there was a lot of talk about Extendimax/Dicamba spraying.
The newest label says: Boom height20" (50 cm) or less and a lot of other restrictions like nozzle type, weather conditions etc.
So, now you sprayed a field of beans with Extendimax and did everything correct according to the label, except the boom height because the boom on your sprayer won't go any lower then lets say 24 " and spraying with the boom that low is almost impossible anyways.
But you fill out your records and write down 20" as boom height.
Nobody will ever know it was a bit more then 20 "
Now there comes a complaint from a neighbor that you did damage in his beans due to vapor drift, something you have no control over, even with the boom lower then 20 "
A lawsuit follows and you have to defend yourself.
You have your spray records and everything is looking fine.
But then the lawyer of the neighbor asks you what make and model sprayer you used.
You answer Make X, model Y.
The lawyer then says: According to the specs of that particular sprayer, that boom won't go any lower then 24 " so it's impossible that you were spraying in compliance with the label and that's an offense.
So you loose and your insurance won't pay for the damage because of non compliance so you have to pay for the damage yourself.

What my point is, there are a lot of sprayers not capable of spraying Extendimax according to the label.
Please check the specs of your sprayer before you even consider doing so.
