Subject: Seed Corn, Cover Crops, and No-Till

Central Nebraska

Dad and I are raising seed corn and we have the option of putting down a cover crop when the male rows are destroyed in the next few weeks.  Last year I put down tillage radishes and turnips and then in the fall/winter a neighbor put his cows out to graze the cover crops and stalks.  In the spring I had to disc the field twice to get a nice seedbed for the soybeans.  I'd like to do the cover crop again this year but also want to no-till my beans in the spring.  If I don't have cows rutting up the field this fall/winter will I be able to terminate the cover crop in spring and plant directly into the tillage radishes and turnips?
