Subject: New Holland T4.105 SERIOUS ISUES @ 160hrs!!!

Has anyone had issues with their T4. tractors?. We purchased our 105 almost two years ago and have had nothing but problems, the tractor only has 160 hrs on it and 10+ of them have been added at the shop. New Holland has been absolutely horrible to deal with, every time I contact them I get the "you'll have to handle this through your dealer" story. The Dealer has went above and beyond to solve all our issues and are at their limits of help. New Holland has tried to throw the dealer under the bus every time ,like there not doing what supposed to be done. Here is a list of problems that's occurred. 1. Waited over a year for the front fender option, New Holland has the parts list wrong and makes the dealer buy them piece part @ 5 x's the price. The dealer had to order a new tractor with the option to get us ours. 2. The dash has quit twice and the firs time it sat at the dealer for over two months, New Holland couldn't figure out what programming to use to make it work. The shop foreman had to figure it out himself. None of the reps could figure it out. 3. The turbo has puked engine oil out of the compressor side since it was new and New Holland's fix was to run it on the dyno for a day to "break it in", needless to say its still blowing oil. 4. I added a factory coolant heater the other day and the freeze plug had serious levels of corrosion on it. 5. The differential lock was locked in and wouldn't release. The dealer had to grind the cast off of the housing to let it release. 6. The cables for the loader controls fell out of the holders and we lost all control at the least opportune time. 7.The PTO speed reading is not even close to being correct. 8. The hood is cracked at the hinge mount. 9. The paint on the main frame is falling off in huge chunks. 10. The rear wheels were falling off at 15 hrs. 11. There was a washer left laying on the motor from the factory. 12. I have fixed numerous oil leaks etc. on this tractor. I could see some issues if I had purchased a china POS but we didn't, we bought a 60K New Holland. I have left out the dealers name for a reason, I don't want New Holland or anyone else to point fingers at them. Were at our whits end with this piece, and we would love to upgrade to a new one but I wouldn't give this thing to my worst enemy. I've added a few pics of the issues

Welcome to the NAT and the "NH club".

I found cigarette pack in my transmission, so rest assured you are only on the surface of the trouble.

I have a T4.105 and so far none of the issues you are having. 200HRS on mine. I did have it back to dealer for a few minor issue - air seat leaking down slowly - stuttering hydraulics just after startup which was fixed by tightening clamps to hydraulic pump - I was skeptical when we left the dealer but took care of stuttering problem. The only other issue not NH related but it smells like something crawled in somewhere and died in the cab, I took air filters off and looked around but could not find anything. I am curious if you have one made in Italy or one made in Turkey. If it were me I would talk to your dealer and trade it off because it sounds like you have a lemon.

Trade it off ASAP. Personally if it was mine it would have gone months ago. Not worth the hassle of getting it right.

Sounds like the only cure for it is throwing a match down the console and blame it on electrical issues lol

Sounds like your dealer is working with you & not the company-sometimes its the other way around. You'd think they'd think the customer is always right but sounds like the company has an attitude. For a company that hasn't always had tractors-you'd think they'd bend over backwards keeping you from the other competition. Were these tractors Fords years ago??

Fiat bought out Ford/ New Holland and Case IH tractors. We have fords and New Holland's pre Fiat and no serious issues. All the issues we did have were fixed immediately. I guess its a different world now!

I've got a T4.75 almost 300 hrs and has been pretty trouble free. Just shredded a fan belt a month ago and they replaced a rear fender that had a paint chip other than that been a good tractor. Hope you get it worked out.

A couple of your problems should have been solved before you even took delivery of the tractor. Do you live in a cold climate? If so, what happens to these tractors is condensation builds up in the engine breather, then freezes and it pushes oil out the turbo and if ran long enough it pushes out the front and rear engine seals. I have a red version of what you have and have over 500 hrs, have had the tractor for just about a year now.

I have a neighbor that had all sorts of problems with a new tractor finally they sent a letter to the higher ups explaining everything that had happened along with invoices and recepts, a week later the local dealer came out and with a replacement tractor to use free of cost til another new tractor was delivered

Trade it to whom? The dealer he's been working with knows it's a pos. So, take it away from home and inject it into some poor unsuspecting soul? That's classy. I say document everything and be CNH's worst nightmare until a satisfactory outcome is reached. Sounds like a company problem, not a dealer problem. I guarantee everybody in the CNH corporate office would know me by name before it's over, if necessary.

I don't care which company you buy from you can always get a lemon. The difference is if the company takes care of the problem. I would not let up, keep working on it with dealer and company, they could work out a replacement for the lemon. It has been done before.

New Brunswick, Canada
Neighbours T4.75 (I think thats the number) has spent more hours in the shop than at the farm. Stuck in park, pto problems, sensor problems, loader cables twice I believe. Other friend has the red version and its constantly beeping error messages and whatnot, the dealer comes, says its fixed, next day its acting up again.

The cabbed T4.? that was on loan while tractor in the shop lost its pto before the T4.75 was fixed so they brought an older TD with manual shuttle. I hate to find out what happens next because the JX's case brothers to the TD have been a nightmare too.

Should have bought a used TN-85/95 I think or whatever the last number was.

We live in Southern Illinois but it was never sitting out in the freezing temps. We kept it in a heated shed unless it was being used. We installed the coolant heater so it could be put into cold storage but ready to run anytime and out of the way.

Going from warm to cold like you are doing could be causing the problem. It thaws in the shop then freezes out in the cold weather.
