| I did my first real serious bidding on Auction time today. First thing I noticed is that you bid in only increments of 100. If you "one click bid" 100 at a time, you'll eventually match the other bidders max bid exactly. If you do, auction time tells you that you have matched the winning bid. ODD, doesn't that mean that the max bid of someones can always be run up without the fear of being stuck with it. Seeing this, I chose not to do a max bid and instead watch it to the end, bidding neck and neck with the other bidder. I had the bid at 24000 with 45 seconds to end. each bid within 45 seconds resets the clock to 45 seconds. Great, accounts for slow internet. So I bid an extra 100 and stopped. time ran out. the other guy got it at 24200. Why did i not get another 45 seconds to bid????
I'm sure the best guess is my internet fell back more than 45 seconds.
Ebay at least has an honest max bid system, they don't tell anybody if they matched the max bid of the other bidders, you have to exceed that bid to ever know what the other max bid was. And Big iron at least extends bidding by 5 minutes.
Not sure if i'm more upset about the structure of auction time, or just that I didn't get the tractor. I would have kept bidding if id had the opportunity. |
