Missouri | A time or two, configuring third party GPS receivers, I have never been able to get an Insight to establish a serial connection if the baud rate is higher than 38,400. The assumption I draw from that is that 38,400 is the max baud rate the Insight can do.
I don't know anything about "NMEA talker", as mentioned in another thread, but with an older display like an Insight, I would not want to be burdening it with anything it could not utilize. If I was configuring a 6000 for an Insight, I would configure it 38,400, 10Hz, and turn off all NMEA sentences but for GSA(typo) GGA and VTG (position and speed). As far as I know, those are the only ones it can utilize.
I do not know if it is possible to configure it if it's present baud rate is set too high to establish a serial connection, but I would guess that is likely a problem.
