Quick question will my Insight monitor work with a newer 6000 Ag Leader gps? Replacing a 1500gps and the new one isn't playing nice with the older monitor.

If it is configured correctly, yes, it should work great. My guess is that you won't however be able to configure it from an insight.

What is going on with your 1500?

Think I heard that last week. Seems like the Tech maybe used an Integra to program the newer GPS and then it was OK with the Insight.

The Insight doesn't like the default Port A settings in a 6000/6500.
It is set to 115200 baud, & NMEA talker turned on.
You can change the port settings by connecting an Integra, Versa, or Compass to port B & change the baud to 38400 & un checking the  NMEA talker.
Then it will work.

A time or two, configuring third party GPS receivers, I have never been able to get an Insight to establish a serial connection if the baud rate is higher than 38,400. The assumption I draw from that is that 38,400 is the max baud rate the Insight can do.

I don't know anything about "NMEA talker", as mentioned in another thread, but with an older display like an Insight, I would not want to be burdening it with anything it could not utilize. If I was configuring a 6000 for an Insight, I would configure it 38,400, 10Hz, and turn off all NMEA sentences but for GSA(typo) GGA and VTG (position and speed). As far as I know, those are the only ones it can utilize.

I do not know if it is possible to configure it if it's present baud rate is set too high to establish a serial connection, but I would guess that is likely a problem.

GGA and VTG. Insight doesn't need GSA.

That's what I meant. Thanks for catching that.

I tried a lot of different combinations of baud & output rates.
Everything would look good until the receiver would get satellites. Then the VTG message would go away.
By turning off the NMEA talker it fixed the problem.

The Insight will not work with anything higher than 38,400 baud rate.
