Western Iowa | I just installed a FASS 150 fuel lift pump on my 12 duramx LML. The thinking behind this was that I would save my cp4 pump from grenading as soon as the warranty is up. Install went ok and the thing is supplying 10psi to the cp4 but it is so dang loud. It sounds like a whine and you can even hear it in the cab. You can hear lots of flow hitting the recycle line when you open the fuel cap. I have tried to purge it free of air, double check for vacuum leaks on the suction side and different filter with no improvement. Anyone else have this problem?

Dearfield Co. | They are loud. My kids say a air dog is a better choice for pickups. Also look at how you mounted it make sure its clear on all sides and not reverberating off of anything. In time you will get used to it or put on louder exhaust

NE Iowa | fass is known to be noisey, seems like that is why more guys are going with the air dog II pumps.

In another thread about duramaxtuner.com he said he's tuned the truck. Warranty is gone. Let me re phrase then.....The cp4 pumps are known for going out when the warranty is up. Around 50kto 80k. I wanted to add some preemptive measures to extend the life beyond usual warranty period. (extra filtration and feed pressure).

North Liberty and South Bend, Indiana | Yep, Pretty sure you can't just take it off either as the computer has already noted it and will show on a scan. They are getting smart! Technically they would have to prove the tuner caused any malfunctions but that would be an awful gray area and common sense will say the tuner is the problem with any drivetrain issues including fuel issues.

SE Illinois | My fass has always been loud. Been on the truck for at least 5 years. Kept the filters changed and never had any problem with it.

Central-ish KY | I'm not sure if Air Dog is quieter, but if you want replace lift pump every year because of failure get the Air Dog. There's a reason why my parts guy no longer sells Air Dogs.

Dearfield Co. | Kids actually sold their fass pumps to friends and said the same about them. I have one left on a early isx cummins and have tried to eliminate it but the thing starts to hard without it. I think they all have issues. The fads eats the little rubber check balls with low suplhor fuel quite often and there is a bag of them in the glovebox

NW KS/ SC ID | He still has the Magnuson-Moss Act on his side, mods have to be proven to have caused the problem before warranty is denied.
